Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Barbra Jo Batterman

I know I am very late in getting this month’s “Gift of the Month” giveaway up and running and hopefully the previous post will have you all feeling just a little bit forgiving. I truly did intend to get this up earlier, really!
Anyway, I figured I had to do something really great to make up for it and in keeping with the spirit of the last post and my shout-out to my friend Barbra Jo Batterman, fabulous makeup artist to the fashion & celebrity world elite, I am going to treat this month’s winner (with Barbra’s blessing) to a complimentary bridal makeup trial with Barbara!!
“If you are looking for beautiful results, look no further than the extraordinary talent of make up artist Barbra Jo Batterman. Everyone is doing it…some of Barbra’s clients include Clinton, Schwarzenegger, Bacall and Lagasse, The Academy Awards, The BET Awards, The American Music Awards, The Billboard Awards, MTV, VH1, HBO and every major network.”
From Barbara’s Bio on her website.
You can also view Barbra’s resume page to see more of the clients she has worked with from top local & national magazines including Las Vegas Life, Las Vegas Bride, Rolling Stone & more.
The Gift Certificate is valued at $100.00 when the trial is done at Barbra’s southwest Las Vegas studio. Should you win the contest and you happen to be from out of town and would like Barbra to come to you at your hotel, then the $100. 00 gift certificate can be applied to her fee for on-site appointments (Barbra will quote you that price).
  • The Gift Certificate will be valid for the remainder of 2008 & does not apply to any increase in fees set by Barbra Jo Batterman. You will arrange your own appointment with Barbra at the mutual convenience of both her’s and your schedules.
  • The contest will end on March 31, 2008 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
  • This month’s contest is only open to “Brides to Be” please!
  • As always, the rules to enter are to respond with a comment to this post with your name and location. If you answer either one of my questions of the month, I enter you twice. You can only answer one question & I’m checking IP addresses so play fair!
The questions are: What has been your best “cover up” story for something embaressing you did? or… What is your best “kiss & makeup” story with your sweetie?
Have fun, good luck & have a wonderful Holiday Easter Weekend!

Hello Again-I know for sure now..I am not Mario Andretti!

Friday, March 21st, 2008
Last Sunday my husband, my step-daughter, her boyfriend and I decided to go go-karting at a local indoor track.

Gas powered cars, they get kind of fast. Fun, fun, FUN…I think, right? I’m car #20. “Come on #20, I say”!

Well, the first half of the race car #20 was just purring along, treatin’ me right. I get a little close to the barrier and skim it near the pits and then…..NOTHIN’..NADA, BLANK.

I wake up in an ambulance with a neck brace on! HOLY YOU KNOW WHAT!

Apparently, good old car #20 let me down and the axel and wheel came off & I skidded & went through the barrier (I was not being reckles & going super fast-not Mario Andretti fast anyway) & my helmet came off.

So I caused a big commotion (and I don’t even remember, darn it!) but I’m ok! I promise. Nothing broken and my head and my brain are just fine after x-rays and a cat-scan.

So, I’m a bit bruised but at least it’s a good story right? See Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge knows how to have some fun. Don’t worry though, I have insurance & I’m a tough & smart cookie who would never do anything too crazy. And no, I didn’t do this just before a wedding either.

Other than the above, the bright point is that it’s nice to have makeup stylist friends in the businesss who can make you feel better & then bring you good plaster style cover up makeup to cover up the boo boos. (Thank you Barbara Jo Batterman!!)

So Mr. Andretti your legacy is safe:). You can be remembered for being the super-fast amazing race car driver you are and I’ll stick to being remembered for the fabulous weddings I planned. Deal?

I will have my very overdue March “Gift of the Month” post up later today-Stay Tuned!

Have a great & stylish Friday!

Favorite Places & Spaces & Flowers at Four Seasons, Las Vegas

The Verandah Restaurant at Four Seasons, Las Vegas
Aren’t these floral arrangements just stunningly beautiful?

I snapped these on a recent visit to The Four Seasons, Las Vegas where I always have my camera ready to capture their latest floral displays by the incredibly talented in-house floral and event decor and design company, “Destinations by Design” who I have the pleasure of working with on an upcoming 2008 summer wedding at The Four Seasons! It’s going to be GORGEOUS!

The hot pink orchids arrangement was welcoming guests as they enter the hotel lobby and the arrangement below is one of the focal points around the stately winding staircase that leads guests to the ball rooms on the 2nd floor.

I love the way these floral arrangements have the look that they could easily be found in one’s home but always inspire me for ideas for escort card table designs or buffet displays for weddings.

A few other reasons why I love to visit The Four Seasons…

  • It is an elegant, luxurious and serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the strip (even for this excitement loving planner).
  • The Verandah Restaurant is one of my favorite places to have a pampered dining experience (breakfast, lunch or dinner) in a beautiful, casual and elegant setting. The food is delicious and the service is so warm and friendly. I especially love when the days get warmer (as they are starting to now) and the Verandah patio is available for al fresco dining. Ahhhhhhh, you should come and join me! They also do a “high tea” service that is so delightful with all the traditional tea sandwiches, pastries and white glove service. It is a real treat to delight in this great tradition and it is a wonderful idea for a bridal luncheon as well!
  • As I mentioned above, it is the venue for one of my upcoming summer 2008 weddings and the staff at Four Seasons have been incredible including the wonderful Catering Sales Manager, Mr. Dennis Silknitter who puts every wedding planner and their client at such ease.

And I guess I can’t be surprised at why this is such a wonderful hotel because the Four Seasons is a Canadian owned resort hotel chain that was founded and still headquartered in Toronto, Canada where I am from. So, I guess it makes me proud and I always feel a little bit “at home” when I am there so that is another reason to add it to my new “Wedding Concierge Favorite Places & Spaces” list.

Have a Stylish Day!

Wedding Marketing Blog says "Tracey’s Business Cards Rock!"

Friday, March 7th, 2008

My good friend Andy Ebon, who is also a “mentor” of mine in many ways and the man behind the Wedding Marketing Blog which I read regularly, featured me and my brand new gorgeous and stylish business cards on his blog today!
I am really honored that Andy has referred to me on his blog as a positive example of “what to do” and thinks that I hit the nail on the head with these cards and that, to paraphrase here, “My Cards Rock!”.
I have to say Andy, I totally agree! I LOVE THEM!
And again, a huge shout-out to the very talented Los Angeles illustrator Samantha Wise (who, by the way, revealed to me that she was also a Las Vegas bride!) who helped create the animated me in my blog masthead and my business cards.
And I agree with Andy, having a creative business card that shows my creativity, my personality and makes me memorable is definately what is going to set me apart:)

Have a Stylish weekend!
