HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010! Now….BEGIN

This is a picture Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge took of a very special gift I received at the Engage ’09 Encore Luxury Wedding Symposium in Las Vegas.

All attendees received one of several different hand-stamped custom created eggs with different messages from Caroline Colom Vasquez, owner of Paloma’s Nest who creates Handcrafted Modern Heirlooms™ like the “Original Ring Bearer Bowl™.

Although the egg I received didn’t really have my own name on it, I believe that this egg really was meant for me (I’m sure every other attendee feels similar thoughts about theirs as well). And although I appreciated the message then, it is today, on the dawn of a new year and decade, as I look at it sitting on my desk, that the message resounds LOUD & CLEAR.

What I see today in this gift of this egg with its simple word, “Begin” is…

POTENTIAL and POSSIBILITIES

All of the great potential I hold, you hold, this new year (and decade) holds to create new ideas, new weddings, new celebrations, new life and new POSSIBILITIES…

To make my life (and yours and this worlds’) happier, healthier, more loving, more fun, more organized, more successful, richer, more inspired and more of whatever you and me and we all wish for it to be.

So, let’s BEGIN, shall we ? To continue the egg metaphor, let’s crack this new year open and “hatch” all of it!!

Here is wishing all the very best to my family, my friends, my colleagues (who are also friends), my extended friends around the “Twitter-verse” and you, my wonderful “Diary” Readers…

A very Happy, Healthy & Wonderful 2010.

Celebrate it and every coming day with LOVE, LIFE & STYLE!

Tracey

SOME “WEDDING WISDOM” FOR US ALL

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge highly recommends to you, my readers this new book authored by well known professional Los Angeles based Wedding Planner, TV personality & author, Mary Dann-McNamee, and created with Leila Khalil, wedding publicist and owner of her PR firm, Be InspiredPR, also in L.A.

The book is called “Wedding Wisdom: An Insightful Approach to Wedding Planning and Life”

Whether you are a newly engaged couple just beginning your wedding planning adventure, in the throes of planning an upcoming celebration or a wedding professional (but planners are the focus), this book is for YOU.

Mary offers, with an easy writing style and personal antidotes, her wealth of life and wedding/event planning experience & wisdom to help you properly prepare (practically, mentally, physically and spiritually) for the planning ahead (be it your wedding & marriage or your wedding business) so that you can completely enjoy the exciting journey you are about to immerse yourself in over the course of the next year and years ahead.

It’s an easy and fun read with many life lessons that can’t be repeated often enough or translated often enough, as Mary so aptly does, especially when it comes to planning such an important life event as a wedding.

Advice on how we should express “Thank You” as often as possible (in person, by phone, by card) and being grateful to all those that give you their time, their talents, their passion and their love, up to and including the wedding day & every day in business and in life a habit that will pay you back & forwards in dividends.

And Mary’s advice (and I will agree 100% with her on this) not to forget to thank yourself by taking care of you, being fair to yourself, expecting great things but accepting life’s way of adding its own special touches to your plans and loving the results anyway.

The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge.-Bertrand Russell

I don’t think this quote could be more perfect to describe what “Wedding Wisdom” is about and I am sure Mary & Leila would agree. It was inspired and created by their love, passion and desire for this great wedding business and to share and pass on to you, those values and their wisdom to help inspire you to create a successful business, a beautiful wedding and a beautiful life worth celebrating every day!

Thank you again for the gift of this book Mary and for the wonderful inscription.

You can purchase the book “Wedding Wisdom” right here. Enjoy it and…

New FTC Guidelines-Why Should YOU Care?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

This day, December 1, 2009 is a BIG day in the blogging & world of Social Media.

Today, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) that is in charge of overseeing the world of blogs, websites and social media has put in effect new laws that 1)incorporates several changes to the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, which address endorsements by consumers, experts, organizations, and celebrities, as well as the disclosure of important connections between advertisers and endorsers.” You can read the complete new guidelines here. Many of these guidelines are almost 29 years overdue!

Basically that means that ALL bloggers must disclose any relationship they have with a company on their blog/website beyond paying for a service or product of their own wallet. It also includes any endorsements, testimonials, sponsorships, etc. made on any kind of Social Media site and that also includes Face book, Twitter, My Space, etc.

What does that Mean to Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge: Well, when it comes to endorsing or recommending fellow wedding professionals and venues to my readers and clients, it means I keep on doing what I have always practiced; Never participating in ANY referral fee or commission program to endorse (or pay to be endorsed) another wedding professional or venue. I have always believed that by recommending professionals based on their talent, professionalism and the trust I have in them ensures your best interests as my clients and readers is always highest priority. It is one of the hallmarks of my business practices and a standard of the professional wedding associations I am a paid member of.

What it means for my blog readers is that you will see even more transparency here. If I recommend a product or book or website where I have received a complimentary copy you will know about it in the blog post. If I have written an editorial or appear as an “expert” resource for a blog or wedding website or magazine that I pay to advertise with, it will be disclosed. If you see a “Preferred Planner” or “Best of” award from a blog, vendor, venue or wedding website of which I pay to advertise, it will be disclosed. If I win an industry award from an association of which I am a paid member, it will be disclosed and so on….

Why Should YOU Care?: You should care…A LOT!! It’s about TRUST and INTEGRITY. As a wedding consultant it’s everything to me and the very core of what I have to offer you as my clients. It’s why I hope you read my blog and have confidence in what I have to say and why I believe my clients come to me to plan their most important wedding celebrations and life events.

Many of my industry friends have made reference to this very important development on their blogs too. Here is a small selection.

Think Splendid Blog by Liene Stevens

I welcome these new changes in the spirit of transparency, trust, honesty, integrity and fellowship among my wedding industry colleagues and fellow bloggers.

What do you think of these new guidelines as a wedding planning couple, a reader of blogs (this or any kind), as a blogger or as a company? I would love to hear your thoughts?
